Acropolis Engineers Supports, Celebrates Business Lessons at Wake Tech Ignite

Founder Terence Morrison Explains How Classes, Local Support from Wake Tech Led to Business Success

Raleigh, NC, March 15, 2018 – Acropolis Engineers’ founder Terence Morrison, a 2006 North Carolina A&T Engineering grad, recently served as the keynote speaker for Wake Tech Ignite — an annual showcase recognizing the success of Wake Technical College’s students and alumni. Morrison is a success story, launching his business with the help and mentorship of Wake Tech’s Small  Business Center. The event hosted by the Wake Tech Foundation featured multiple speakers and took place at Raleigh’s Sheraton Hotel with more than 200 local business leaders in attendance.

“I would tell anyone who is even considering starting a company to check out Wake Tech’s Small Business Center,” says Morrison. “With evening courses and one-on-one mentorship, I was able to combine my engineering knowledge with my business knowledge to create Acropolis Engineers.”

Morrison’s company supplies engineering and technical services to the life sciences and clean energy markets. Capabilities include implementation of data analytics systems, data visualization, automation and controls, and project management.

“Going to Wake Tech made sense because of the night classes that they offered. However, I quickly realized that the resources and counseling that they provided would help me to quickly launch my business with real world tools,” says Morrison.

Morrison learned about hard work and sweat equity at a young age. His mother, Melette Morrison, instilled a sense of entrepreneurship in him from an earlier age. This example set Morrison on his entrepreneurial and engineering track at North Carolina A&T and helped lead to further his business training at Wake Tech.

“The secret sauce at Wake Tech is the collaboration between the faculty, staff, trustees, and students and the support that you in the community give us. Wake Tech is a special place that truly changes lives,” says Wake Tech President Dr. Stephen Scott. Wake Tech serves more than 72,000 students each year.
